The Cat's Meow

The Cat Attendant position is very important is helping us maintain the health and happiness of the kitties in our care. We have 5 community cat rooms at our BSMC location. 

Cat Attendant shifts occur everyday, 8-9:30am and 4-5pm. 

Both shifts consist of cleaning the cat rooms as well as socializing and playing with the cats in each room. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Interact with cats using appropriate toys and tools to ensure safe levels of play and minimizing stress
• Maintain visual observation of cats at all times and report unusual behavior to staff
• Thoroughly scoop and replenish litter in boxes
• Refresh water and food, as directed by staff
• Maintain the physical appearance of the cat rooms, i.e. sweeping and mopping floor, wiping down doors/windows as needed. Reporting any unusual eliminations or injuries to staff immediately.
• Have the ability to understand, remember and follow instructions and procedures; and the ability to ask questions when appropriate

Qualifications:

• Has attended a New Volunteer Orientation and Cat Attendant Training shift
• Ability to accept supervision and direction from staff
• Reliability in attending scheduled shifts, or notifying supervisors in advance if unavailable or sick
• Positive and upbeat attitude

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Requires the ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to bend and lift in accordance with cleaning activities
• Wearing close toed shoes at all times
• Possible exposure to various cleaning agents
